Blogmas day 8: The Winter. There are so many awesome perks and fun things to do in the Winter. Skiing, ice skating, winter foods, fires, snowshoeing, and so many more engaging activities. But, the one thing about Winter which is my least favorite thing is dealing with dry skin. But wait!!!! Who says you can’t have fun while keep your skin plump and pretty.
Today for blogmas day 8 I am going to be blogging about helpful and fun tips to keep your skin dewy in the winter.

Wash in Lukewarm Water
Hot showers and hot baths always feel amazing but it’s a sad fact that hot water dries out your skin, so instead of hot water try lukewarm water.
Moisturize Immediately Afterwards
Applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin.
Choose Moisturizer Carefully
Some over-the-counter moisturizers have petroleum-based ingredients that can actually further dry your skin in the winter months. Also, before buying a moisturizer read the ingredients and try to not buy moisturizers with alcohol. Alcohol dries out the skin and in the cool weather this is not something you want.
We tend to drink less water in the winter because we turn to hot drinks like cocoa and tea, but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out.
Hydrate From the Inside Out
Eating foods high in water content can help hydrate your skin from the inside out. Try watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, oranges, kiwi, and watery veggies like celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and carrots.

If you take a bath, add a few drops of essential oil to the water to help moisturize the skin.
Jasmine, chamomile, lemon, geranium, rosemary, peppermint, or clary sage.
Use a humidifier to keep moisture in your home and office air, or keep a bowl of water on your radiators to add moisture to the air.
The higher the heat indoors, the less humidity there will be. (It’s the humidity that helps keep skin from drying out.) So use a humidifier in your work space or room at night to help keep the skin hydrated, dewy and plump.
Tips for Lips (and Cuticles)
To keep lips soft, dry brush them several times a week with a toothbrush; doing so helps exfoliate the dry skin. Then apply, as often as needed, vitamin E oil, unsalted butter, or ghee directly to the lips. For cuticles, soak them for 5 to 10 minutes daily (or several times weekly) in olive oil.
