Anyone else amazed at how quickly March went by. I know I am! March flew by so fast which makes me very happy because now there are less than 2 weeks until Spring break, a very much needed break. I have been working so hard on so many time consuming tasks so I cannot wait to relax and finally be able to be done with them; to sit in the sun, wake up at 8 o’clock, go for a morning run, pretty much do whatever I want 🙂
A few days ago I was cleaning the house, something I love doing, and had a great idea for a blog post. With Spring finally here I assume many of you have started tiding up the mess left behind from Winter. Spring cleaning is such a great feeling, to de-clutterand and make room for all of your spring things. Cleaning tips for the home
Cleaning room by room is the most effective way to deep-clean your home at any time of the year, but especially in spring. Use room checklists as a springboard for deep-cleaning the areas of your home that really need extra attention. Focus mainly on the parts of your home that have been neglected all winter long.
One of the biggest parts of spring cleaning is getting rid of clutter that you don’t need. Now is a good time to advantage of the natural spring urge to get rid of items that are weighing you down and begin fresh with a more streamlined lifestyle. Sort your belongings into four categories—trash, give-away, store, or put-way—can also be effective as you begin the spring-cleaning process. Also, planning garage sales or to donating items to good causes will make cleaning a lot easier because the clutter will be less.
Keep Cleaning Products to a Minimum
The cleaning aisles of our stores are stocked full of commercial products to help you clean, but the variety can be overwhelming. And dozens of cleaning products means dozens of cleaning products to clutter up your cabinets and closets.
There are even homemade cleaners you can make that will save you money while protecting the environment.
Establish New Cleaning Habits
A good, thorough spring cleaning includes the whole house and is a great way to start off the new season. Simple 15-minute cleanup routines practiced every few days, each including a series of 1- to 2-minute chores, can make it remarkably easy to keep your home clean and tidy all year long.
I adapted these ideas from the spruce.com and made them my own.
Have dirty shoes? Use oxi clean. Spray the stain and let sit overnight or up to 7 days depending on the severity of the stain, wash once stain is gone and voila! Your shoes are nice and clean. I like to use this hack every few months to clean up my shoes so they are looking nice and new.
A great way to clean out your desk or mail section is to take a trip to the dollar store and pick up some one dollar organization folders and bins. They are a great cheap alternative to some of the more expensive organizers.
Saving money on decor
Don’t want to spend hundred on new Spring decor? Take a trip to the dollar store where you will find all sorts of affordable and great quality decorations. Another great store find is “Christmas tree shops.” Although everything there is not a dollar they do sell very affordable and high quality decorations and so many other spectacular finds.
These tips were mine that I use.
