Road to 2020 Marathon- day 2 / the struggle but not giving up

December 9, 2019. This morning’s 8:00 run was not so nice. First off I was supposed to wake up at 7 am to run so I would beat the rain but I was being lazy and wanted to sleep in. Not a good idea. Where I live it’s currently freezing rain so my run consisted of trying to dodge the freezing rain droplets and keeping my eyes on the road so I didn’t hit an ice patch. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that some days are going to be like this. Some days I won’t want to get my butt out of my warm bed to run in the cold and other days it may be snowing or raining. But I have to keep to my schedule to keep on progressing.

This morning my run started at 8 am and ended at 8:30. I kept a steady pace 3/4 of the way then picked it up towards the end to push myself mentally and physically, and it was tough. The cold was especially getting to me today so at times I wanted to catch my breath and walk, and sometimes this is okay. But my urge to walk stemmed from my lazy attitude this morning, so I pushed myself. Even though I wanted to give up and stop sprinting I didn’t and in the end, I am glad. Sure at that moment I was ‘”dying” but once I reached the end, I was glad I didn’t give up. I was happy I pushed myself because I know now that when I reach that point again in my run, and it will happen, to push past it because the mental reward is worth it.

Anyway, during my running days, I like to drink a protein smoothie right after then have a snack around 11, lunch around 12:30-1:00, another snack around 2-3, dinner around 5-6 and to top it off a paleo truffle for dessert. Well, that’s it for my update. Tomorrow I will most likely wake up at 7:00 for a run/walk or either a weights workout. My planner says weights day but also says I can do an activity of my choice. So, we’ll see what I decide.
