Road to 2020 Marathon- day 4 // Snowy morning run
December 11, 2019 – I have never felt this mentally and physically happy in a long time. That’s not to say I haven’t had precious memories that filled me with joy over these past few months, what I’m talking about goes far beyond that. My mind is so clear and alert because of the journey I’m taking. I’ve heard people call it the “runners mind” and upon research, I can agree this is what I’m experiencing. My morning run felt so energetic and powerful and I ran with ease for the first time since embarking on this journey. I didn’t question for a moment ‘maybe I should just stop’ or ‘just walk’; I felt so alive and happy. The feelings I’m currently having are as if my body is filled with tons of happy and positive endorphins, I feel as if I could go for a second run. But we’re not up to that part of my training yet π
This morning my run was around 25 minutes which is about where I want to be right now. Next week I’m hoping to increase it to 35-45 minutes which will put me at about 3.5 + miles. As I’ve said in my previous reflections, I am doing this journey to not just say I ran a marathon but to build a healthy and happy relationship with running. So I’m taking it slow. My first 10K isn’t until March and my half marathon isn’t until May. I hoping to run the half in about 1 hr and 30 min which will put me in the top finishers for my Marathon (3+ hrs) and half marathon.
Thank you for tuning in on this snowy morning and I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday.
Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!
