10 tips on how to host the perfect Holiday party – blogmas day 8

On the 8th day of blogmas DIY Lifestyle gave to me, tips on how to host the perfect Holiday party this year!

The Holidays are stressful enough let alone having to host a Holiday party. So, this year I have come up with 10 fool proof tips that will help you host the perfect party, all without stress.

Make a plan

Make a list for your cooking and stick to it. I find it most helpful to write down dishes that need to be made by a certain time, then when they’re done I check it off the list. This way it will keep you on track and not falling behind on your cooking.

Coordinate your dishes

Group the dishes that cook at the same temperatures together so they can go in the oven together so you’re not putting the temp up, then down, then up again.

Go with what you know

If you’re famous for a dish then make it. While experimenting with new recipes is fun, anytime you’re hosting a party this is not the time. So make recipes you’re comfortable with and have made before.

Set time for cleaning

Cooking is the fun part, cleaning is not. So, make sure after you’re done making the recipe, take time to clean so your kitchen doesn’t become a disaster. OR grab a friend to help you with the cleanup so you can focus on other tasks.

Set the table the night before

Set the table the night before so on the day of your party it’s one less task you need to do.

Don’t be shy to delegate

If you’re feeling stress and need help then don’t be shy to ask a family member or friend for help in the kitchen or elsewhere.

Make as much as you can in advance

Prepare as much food as you can in advance so it’s one less recipe to cook on the big day. Pies, crusts, veggie cutting, seasoning meats, breads and mostly all desserts can be made 1 day in advance.

Cool your drinks the fun way

Don’t use a fridge to cool your drinks. Instead use something most of have outside, the snow. Place your drinks in the snow or out in the cold to cool down fast and to save useful and much needed fridge space!

Let the store help you

If a store offers to make/ already sell pies, other desserts, appetizer platters or other foods you need, then buy them there. This way it’s one less thing for you to have to prepare.

Serve food the buffet-style

Serving food the buffet style is always fun and easy! This way you won’t be worrying about taking dishes out of the oven or keeping them warm in the oven. Simply keep your food warm the same way they do at a buffet, with the little furnaces underneath and your food in the pans. Easy and mess-free!

Thanks for reading my blog post today! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and countdown to Christmas! It’s one week away! Whoo!

Happy Holidays everyone! πŸ™‚
